Final Stats

NORMAN, Okla. - The TCU Horned Frogs scored four runs in the first three innings as they won their first game in Norman since April 27, 1996. The Frogs got a strong relief outing from Chad Underwood to help them to the victory over the No. 13 Oklahoma Sooners Tuesday night at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

The Frogs scored three runs in the first two innings without the benefit of an RBI as they took advantage of a wild Charles Benoit. TCU struck for two runs in the first inning, as Benoit threw two wild pitches in the inning. Shelby Ford reached on a double and scored on a wild pitch. Chad Huffman, who reached for the 35th consecutive game, drew a one-out walk and scored on a passed ball. Austin Adams scored on a balk to make it 3-0 after leading off the second inning with a double.

Ford chased Benoit from the game leading off the third as he tripled to left center. Chris Neuman collected the first RBI of the game for TCU as he drilled a long single to right field, scoring Ford from third to give the Frogs a 4-0 lead.

The Sooners caused some problems in the fourth as the first two batters reached base for OU. The Frogs used three pitchers to get out of the inning but allowed only one run, maintaining their lead. Chad Underwood got Jeff Scuderi to ground out to Ramon Moses to end the inning, leaving the bases full of Sooners.

The Frogs and the Sooners traded runs in the fifth inning. German Duran drove in Huffman for TCU's fifth run of the game. The first two batters of the inning reached base for the Sooners, but only one run crossed the plate as Underwood got out of the inning thanks to a double play ball off the bat of Brenan Herrera.

Chase Perry pitched well in his second start of the season. In his 3.2 innings of work, Perry allowed only one run on three hits, striking out two and walking one. Underwood pitched 4.1 innings in relief, allowing only a run on three hits. He struck out four and walked only one as he won his fifth game of the season.

The Sooners mounted a rally in the bottom of the ninth, loading the bases with one out. Robbie Findlay struck out the first batter he faced, but got wild as he walked the next batter, then hit the next three in a row, pushing across a run. He got the final two outs to pick up his sixth save of the season.

The Frogs (23-15) return to conference action on Friday as they host the Saint Louis Billikens for a three-game series. First pitch for Friday's contest is slated for 7 p.m. at Lupton Stadium.
