ARLINGTON, Texas - With TCU holding onto a slim 7-6 lead, it exploded for nine runs in the last two innings to secure its 25th win of the season. Chad Huffman homered twice in the contest, his second multi-home run game of the season. Five different Frogs recorded at least two hits, while eight Frogs tallied at least one RBI. TCU pounded out 17 hits and played flawless defense.

Huffman gave the Frogs the early lead with a two-out home run to straight away center field. The home run was his sixth of the season.

The Mavericks battled back and tied the game at one in the bottom of the first inning. James Smith led off with a single and scored on a one out double by Adam Moore. Zach Ashwood settled down and retired the last two batters of the inning to keep the game at 1-1.

After a scoreless second frame, the Mavericks broke through for three runs in the bottom of the third. Smith walked to end a streak of six straight retired by Ashwood. Another walk put two on ending Ashwood's night. Moore singled to drive in two runs and scored on a Robby Winn single before Shawn Ferguson (3-3) got Brock Wilson to ground into an inning-ending double play.

The Frogs responded with a four-run top of the fourth inning. Andrew Walker started the inning with a walk and moved to second on a Matt Vern single. Corey Steglich singled through the left side to drive in Walker and Bryan Kervin hit a sacrifice fly to bring the Frogs within one, 4-3. Steven Trout gave the Frogs the lead with a two-out two-run single. After four, TCU led 5-4.

TCU and UTA traded two run innings in the fifth to keep it a one-run game. Matt Carpenter and Walker reached on back-to-back singles to open the frame and Austin Adams walked to load the bases. Matt Vern was plunked to drive in a run and a Corey Steglich ground out gave TCU the 7-4 lead.

A two-out rally for the Mavericks resulted in two runs off of a double by Wilson that plated Ben Burum and Winn, pulling UTA to within one at 7-6.

The Frogs broke the game open in the eighth with five runs. Huffman made it 8-6 with his second long ball of the game. After the second out was recorded, five straight batters reached base. Walked started the rally with his third hit of the night and scored on an Adams double. Jerid Buttell collected a pinch-hit single to plate Adams and he scored on a two-run double off the bat of Ryan Pack.

Four more runs crossed the plate in the top of the ninth. Hunt Woodruff led off the inning with a pinch-hit triple and scored on a Huffman base knock. The Frogs 15th run of the night scored on UTA's fourth error of the game and a wild pitch sent home the final run of the contest.

Ferguson picked up the win in relief of Ashwood, who went 2.1 innings allowing three runs on two hits. He struck out two and walked two. Ferguson went 1.2 innings, giving up a run on four hits with two strike outs. Chase Perry and Brent Allar combined to pitch 2.1 scoreless innings.

The Frogs (25-17) will wrap up their seven game road swing when they return to conference play at San Diego State this weekend. Friday's series opener is slated for an 8 p.m. (CST) first pitch.
