MANHATTAN, Kan. - An unearned run in the second inning proved to be the difference as Kansas State took a 2-1 win on Saturday afternoon.

Brandon Finnegan tossed his second complete game of the season, but was the tough-luck loser as an unearned run proved to be the difference. He gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits. The sophomore walked two and struck out eight.

Cody Jones beat out an infield single to lead off the game. A stolen base and a ground out later, Jones was standing on third. Jantzen Witte battled and stroked a single to right field for a two-out RBI and a 1-0 TCU lead.

A lead-off walk to Ross Kivett in the bottom of the first came back to haunt the Frogs as he scored on a one-out double off the bat of Shane Conlon to tie the game at one. Finnegan battled back to fan the final two in the inning, stranding the runner at second.

Kansas State capitalized on another free base runner in the second to take a 2-1 lead. Austin Fisher reached on an error to open the inning and was standing on third with two outs. Clayton Dalrymple legged out an infield single to drive in the go-ahead run.

Base runners were hard to come by for the Frogs as the K-State pitching staff kept the Frogs off-balance. A Keaton Jones lead-off double in the third was erased on a bunt attempt. Cody Jones led off the sixth with a base hit and was standing on third with two outs after a wild pitch and stolen base. He would be stranded as the Wildcats got a pop-up to end the inning.

For his part, Finnegan kept the Frogs in the game as he minimized the base runners for Kansas State. In the fourth and fifth innings the Wildcats had a runner reach base. In both of those frames, Finnegan picked the runners off to end the inning.

The Frogs best chance to tie the game late came in the seventh inning. Kyle Bacak and Keaton Jones singled with two outs, but the Frogs couldn't come up with the game-tying hit.

TCU falls to 19-23 overall and 7-10 in Big 12 play. The Horned Frogs will try and salvage one game in the series on Sunday. Game time is set for 11 a.m. Fans can follow all the action live on Fox College Sports as Andrew Mitchell takes the mound for TCU.
