Final Stats

Louisville, Ky. - The TCU Horned Frogs salvaged a split Sunday afternoon as they took the nightcap of a doubleheader. TCU scored five times in the sixth inning to take a 10-6 lead and Robbie Findlay made it stand up en route to his fourth victory of the season. With the win, the Frogs maintained a tie for third-place in Conference USA. This marks the fourth straight series victory for the Frogs.

Louisville jumped out an early 2-0 lead in the first inning as they plated two runs before the first out was recorded. Ryan Weems rallied as he struck out the final three batters of the inning to keep the damage minimal.

TCU battled back to tie the game in the third inning on the strength of a Chris Neuman home run that plated German Duran who had drawn a one out walk. But the tie wouldn't hold as the Cardinals regained the lead in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-2 lead.

TCU kept coming back, this time taking the lead in the fourth inning. With two runners on and two outs, Ramon Moses delivered a clutch double to left field that plated Austin Adams to pull the Frogs within one, 4-3. Duran walked to load the bases, bringing up Shelby Ford. Ford delivered the Frogs second double of the inning, driving in Kyle Dahlberg and Moses with the go-ahead run, but the Cardinals ended the inning, throwing Duran out at the plate trying to score.

Once again the pesky Cardinals regained the lead, this time on a short home run off the bat of Mark Jurich, giving Louisville a 7-6 lead.

After a scoreless inning in the fifth, the Frogs took control of the game. TCU plated five runs on five hits and one crucial Cardinal error to take the lead for good. Dahlberg was hit by a one-out pitch to start the rally and after two singles, the Frogs had tied the game, this time on a Duran base knock. Ford gave the Frogs the lead as he beat out a double play ball scoring Moses with the go-ahead run.

A critical error by first baseman Daniel Burton when he failed to touch first base on a groundball hit to second allowed the Frogs third run of the inning to score and extended the inning for TCU. The Frogs made the error hurt as they score another run on an RBI single by Chad Huffman. When all was said and done, TCU led 10-6.

Robbie Findlay came on in the fifth inning and shut the door as he allowed only two hits in 2.2 innings of work. He struck out five and didn't walk a batter as he picked up his third win in just over a week.

The Frogs (28-17, 14-7) have the week off before returning to action on Friday night when UAB visits Lupton Stadium. The three-game series will begin on Friday with first pitch slated for 7 p.m.
