TCU Wins Resumption Of ACU Contest
May 2, 2017
FORT WORTH -- TCU and Abilene Christian picked up where it left off on March 21 in Abilene on Tuesday night, completing the suspended game with the Horned Frogs coming out the victors with a 3-0 win. The game resumed with two outs in the top of the fifth.
Back on March 21, TCU built a 2-0 lead in the first two innings before the game was eventually suspended with two out in the top of the fifth due to a lightning storm that passed through the area.
Cam Warner doubled, stole second and scored on an Evan Skoug sacrifice fly in the first. Elliott Barzilli's home run to lead off the second gave the Frogs a 2-0 lead. TCU added a third run in the resumption as Luken Baker singled home Warner in the seventh.
In the resumption portion of the game, ACU's best chance to get back in the game came in the seventh after a lead-off single. With one out and a runner on second, Russell Crippen singled to left, but Josh Watson's throw home was on target as they cut down the runner trying to score for the second out.
Jake Eissler (4-0) picked up the win with three innings of relief on the mound. He allowed just three hits, walked one and struck out two. Durbin Feltman collected his 11th save of the season with a perfect ninth inning.
