FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 23 TCU Horned Frogs scored three times in the first and never looked back as they defeated UT-Pan American 9-2 Saturday night at Lupton Stadium. Keith Conlon and Andrew Walker led the offensive surge for the Frogs, while Chris Johnson dominated to earn his 10th win of the season.

UT-Pan American starter Chad Linder struggled with the strike zone in the first inning, helping the Frogs build a 3-0 lead. Bryan Kervin worked a lead-off walk and moved to second on a Steven Trout sacrifice bunt. After Keith Conlon was hit by the pitch, Linder unleashed a wild pitch to move both runners into scoring position. Austin Adams delivered a run scoring single to give TCU its first lead and Clint Arnold added an RBI ground out to make it 2-0. Matt Vern rounded out the scoring with a two-out RBI single.

The Broncs best chance to score off of Johnson came in second inning as they loaded the bases with two outs. Dominic Tognietti doubled to lead off the inning and moved to third with only one out. Johnson got Jeremy Johnson to ground out for the second out of the inning, then walked the next two batters to load the bases. He got out of the jam with, striking out Nick Bourn to end the inning.

A two-out two-run rally in the second extended the Horned Frog lead to 5-0. With one out, Kervin drew his second walk of the game. After a fly out, Conlon drove the ball off the fence in right field to plate Kervin with a stand-up double. Adams traded places with Conlon at second, picking up his second RBI of the night.

Andrew Walker kept the scoring going in the third leading off the bottom of the inning with his 10th home run of the season. After three, the Frogs were in control with a 6-0 lead.

Johnson (10-2) surrendered at least one base runner in all but the first inning, but was able to work around the base hits to keep the Broncs off the scoreboard. In 6 1/3 innings of work, he allowed just five base hits, walked two and struck out one.

The Broncs picked up their first run of the game in the seventh on a great hustle play by Bourn who reached base with a one-out bunt single. Bourn moved to second on a walk to Abraham Garcia. On in relief, Steven Maxwell struck out Osiel Flores for the second out but gave up an infield single to Roly Gonzalez. On the play, Bourn scampered home to break up the shut out.

TCU responded in the bottom of the inning, picking up three runs before the Broncs recorded an out. Conlon led off the inning with his third hit of the night. Both Adams and Clint Arnold were plunked on the shoulder to load the bases, ending Linder's (2-4) night. Walker greeted the new reliever with a two-run double down the left field line to make it an 8-1 ballgame. The Frogs final run of the game scored on a double play ball off the bat of Hunt Woodruff.

UTPA would push across an unearned run in the eighth inning to account for the final score.

Taylor Cragin and Derek VerHagen combined to pitch a perfect ninth inning to nail down the win for the Frogs.
