FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 23 TCU Horned Frogs completed the sweep of UT-Pan American, 6-1, in a rain-shortened game Sunday afternoon at Lupton Stadium. The win gives the Frogs their second 40-win season in school-history. Matt Vern and Steven Trout tallied three hits apiece to lead the Frogs to victory. The sweep is the ninth of the season for TCU.

TCU jumped on top in the second inning and never looked back. Clint Arnold drew a lead-off walk and moved to second on a Matt Vern single. After two outs, Ben Carruthers put the Frogs on top with a single through the right side.

Chance Corgan (7-1) kept the Broncs off balance for five innings, surrendering just four hits. His lone jam came in the third inning as UTPA mounted a two-out rally. Osiel Flores singled and moved to second on a walk to Roly Gonzalez. Dominic Tognietti single to right and it looked like the game would be tied, but Austin Adams uncorked a strike to home plate. Walker did an excellent job blocking the plate and tagging out Flores to end the inning.

TCU turned the momentum into a 2-0 lead in the fourth. Vern drilled a one-out double down the left field line and scored on an Andrew Walker base hit.

The Frog bats came alive in the fifth as they broke the game open, scoring four times on four hits. Bryan Kervin worked a lead-off walk and moved to second on a Steven Trout bunt single. With one out, the Broncs made a call to the bullpen. Adams greeted Steven Davila with a long three-run home run to center field to give TCU a 5-0 lead. Vern smoked his second double of the game to with two outs and came around to score on a Walker double.

UTPA pushed across a run in the sixth. Gonzalez singled to open the inning and stole second base. A Tognietti base hit plated Gonzalez to make it a 6-1 game. Gonzalez made it to third with just one out but Tyler Lockwood buckled down and got Lyndon Bartosh to strike out and Jeremy Johnson to ground out to end the inning.

A lightning strike in the middle of the seventh put the game in a delay and twenty minutes later the rain came, ending any chance at resuming the game.

TCU improves to 40-11 on the season. The Frogs will host UT-Arlington on Tuesday night in their final non-conference game of the season. Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m. at Lupton Stadium.
