WACO, Texas - A pair of three run innings helped Baylor to a 6-3 victory over TCU Thursday night at Baylor Ballpark. Cody Jones led the Frogs with three hits, but the Horned Frogs stranded 11 base runners in the loss.

Brandon Finnegan (8-3) took the loss after surrendering six runs (five earned) on five hits and a walk. He fanned three in 3 1/3 innings of work. Jordan Kipper pitched the final 4 2/3 innings. He allowed just two hits, walked one and struck out four.

TCU took advantage of a lead-off error in the first to jump out to a 1-0 lead. Cody Jones reached on the miscue and moved to second on a Derek Odell base hit. Boomer White sacrificed both runners up 90 feet and Jones scored on a sacrifice fly from Kevin Cron.

Dylan Fitzgerald drew an eight-pitch lead-off walk in the second. With one out, he stole second and scored easily on a two-out base hit from Cody Jones to put the Frogs up 2-0.

The Bears began their comeback in the bottom of the second as they struck for three runs on just one hit. An error and a walk set the stage for Aaron Dodson with nobody out in the inning. He delivered as he hit a three-run blast to left to put the Bears on top, 3-2.

The Bears added three runs in the fourth as they opened up a 6-2 lead. Dodson opened the inning with a lead-off double. Three straight one-out singles followed. Darryn Sheppard drove in the first run of the inning, stole second and scored on a bloop single from Logan Brown. Brett Doe put down a safety squeeze to drive in the final run of the inning.

TCU had its best opportunity to get back into the game in the seventh as it loaded the bases on two hits and a walk with one out. Baylor reliever Doug Ashby snared a hot smash off the bat of Garrett Crain and turned it into an inning-ending 1-2-3 double play.

The Frogs pushed across a run in the eighth after loading the bases for the second consecutive inning. Dylan Fitzgerald reached on a one-out single and moved to second on a walk to Keaton Jones. Kyle Bacak singled up the middle to load the bases. Cody Jones hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Fitzgerald to make it a 6-3 game.

With the loss, TCU falls to 36-15 overall and 15-7 in Big 12 play. Game two of the series is set for Friday night at 6:35 and will air live on FSSW+. Preston Morrison will make the start for the Horned Frogs.
