Final Stats

Fort Worth, Texas - The TCU Horned Frogs locked up the fourth seed in the Conference USA Post-season Tournament with a 9-7 win over the Charlotte 49ers. The win gives the Frogs their third series sweep of the season. Ryan Weems picked up a win in his final home game and Robbie Findlay recorded his ninth save to lead the Frogs to victory. Chris Neuman and Bo Cogbill each record three-hit games and Ramon Moses drove in two.

The Frogs found themselves in a 2-0 hole before coming to bat in the first as the 49ers struck first on a hit and an error. The deficit grew to five, following a three-run outburst by Charlotte in the second inning.

TCU matched the 49ers three-run top of the inning, with three runs of their own in the bottom of the second. Austin Adams drew a lead-off walk to start the rally followed by a Neuman single to move Adams to third. J.J. Estrada was hit by the pitch to load the bases. D.J. Pokluda grounded out to plate Adams with the first run of the game for TCU. Moses delivered the clutch two-out single that sent Neuman and Estrada home to make it a 5-3 game.

The Frogs were able to tie the game in the fifth inning, scoring twice on three hits. Pokluda stroked a one-out double to get the offense going. After a Moses single moved Pokluda to third, Shelby Ford grounded out to bring Pokluda home. Chad Huffman delivered the game-tying single to plate Moses and tie the game at five.

Weems (5-3) continued to put zeroes on the board as he sailed through the next four innings, retiring nine of the next 11 batters he faced.

The Frogs took advantage of poor defensive play in the sixth inning to take an 8-5 lead. After two quick outs, the Frogs started to rally. Huffman hit a two-out single, followed by a Cogbill single to bring up Adams. Adams smoked a ball to third baseman Adam Floyd who booted the ball into left field. Left fielder Brian Scafe couldn't corral the ball and Huffman and Cogbill streaked home with the go-ahead runs. Chris Neuman tacked on a RBI-double to plate Adams, making it an 8-5 game.

The Frogs and the 49ers traded runs in the eighth inning to make it a 9-6 contest. The 49ers tried to mount a rally of their own in the ninth inning as they picked up a run with only one out. Findlay came on and shut the door retiring the only two men he faced for the save.

The Frogs will return to the diamond Wednesday night as they begin play in the Conference USA Tournament. The Frogs will face the host school and fifth-seeded Houston on Wednesday night at 7:30.
