Hattiesburg, Miss. - The No. 27 TCU Horned Frogs stayed perfect in tournament play with an 8-0 victory over the host Southern Miss. The Frogs dominated in all three facets of the game with solid pitching defense and clutch hitting. Chad Huffman drove in five runs with a 4-for-5 day at the plate, while Lance Broadway continue his dominance with six shutout innings. Broadway improved to a nation-best 14-1 on the season and has not surrendered an earned run in his last 21 innings pitched. The win gives TCU 39 on the season, tying the single-season record set a year ago.

The pitcher's dual that fans anticipated all day played out perfectly for the first two innings with Broadway and Southern Miss' Patrick Ezell matching each other pitch for pitch. Broadway wiggled his way out of jams in the second and third innings, but Ezell was unable to do the same in the bottom of the third.

After two quick outs in the third, Stuart Musslewhite broke through to start the rally with a double to left field. After falling behind to Shelby Ford 3-0, Ezell intentionally walked him to get to Huffman. A wild pitch during Huffman's at-bat moved both runners into scoring position. Huffman delivered with a two-RBI single to left field, putting the Frogs up 2-0.

Broadway issued two walks in the third inning, then shut the Golden Eagles down through the next three innings, allowing just two base hits before giving way to the bullpen. He finished the game with nine strikeouts and three walks. He has allowed just one earned run in his last 39 innings pitched.

A four-run fifth inning by the Frogs put the game out of reach. Musslewhite again started the rally, drawing a one-out walk. A Ford single put two runners on and Huffman doubled to make it a 3-0 game, ending Ezell's day. Cole Basinger struck out the first guy he faced, before Keith Conlon unloaded for his fifth home run of the season over the center field fence to make it 6-0.

Chad Huffman tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning with his team-leading 12th home run of the season.

Chad Underwood and Shawn Ferguson threw three shutout innings to preserve the Frogs eighth shutout of the season. Underwood allowed two hits in two innings and struck out two. After walking the first batter he faced, Ferguson settled in to strike out the final three batters he faced.

The Frogs (39-18) will await the winner of the Southern Miss/USF game that will be played on Friday at 6:30 p.m. TCU will be in action on Saturday afternoon at 12:30 with a chance to get to the championship game for the second year in a row.
