OKLAHOMA CITY – Mitchell Traver gave No. 6 TCU a solid seven innings on the mound and the offense backed him up with nine runs to help the Horned Frogs stay alive in a 9-2 victory over Texas.

The Rundown
Traver (3-1) was brilliant in his time on the mound, limiting Texas to four hits, one run and one walk while striking out eight. He never faced more than four batters in an inning. Trey Morris finished off the win with two innings of work.

TCU wasted little time recovering from a Texas lead-off home run, striking for a quartet of runs in the bottom of the first. Zach Humphreys tripled home Austen Wade to tie the game and scored on a grounder from Cam Warner. Following a walk to Connor Wanhanen and a base hit from Elliott Barzilli, Ryan Merrill doubled to the right field corner to drive in two more.

Another triple, this time from Wade turned into TCU’s fifth run of the game as he scored on a Humphreys’ sacrifice fly in the second.

TCU added single runs in the fourth and sixth innings to extend its lead to six, 7-1. Evan Williams singled home Merrill and he scored on a wild pitch in the sixth.

Wade’s second triple of the game highlighted the eighth as Josh Watson scored. An error by the right fielder allowed Wade to coast the final 90 feet to home for a 9-1 lead.

Texas picked up a run in the ninth to account for the final score.
