Youth Is Served In Game One Win
June 11, 2016
After a rocky first inning, Janczak (7-3) settled in and through 6 2/3 shutout innings to carry TCU into the eighth inning. The only blemish on his sparking line was a two-out, two-run double from Michael Barash. After sending six batters to the plate in the first inning, the Aggies sent more than four men to the plate just once.
The final line for Janczak, making just his fifth career start, saw him throw a career-high 7 2/3 innings. He allowed two runs on six hits, walked three and struck out four.
TCU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first. Back-to-back singles from Cam Warner and Evan Skoug put runners on the corners with one out. A walk to Baker loaded the bases for Elliott Barzilli. He grounded into a fielder's choice to bring in one run. An errant relay throw back to first got away, allowing Skoug to score for a 2-0 lead.
The Aggies answered back in their half of the first. A one-out single followed by a two-out walk put the tying runs on base. Barash tied the game with a double to left center.
The Frogs grabbed the lead back in the third. Walks to Warner and Skoug set the table for Baker, who delivered a three-run blast off the scoreboard in left center to make it a 5-2 ballgame.
Three more runs scored in the fifth for TCU as the lead stretched to six. With two outs, Baker dumped a single into left field. After Barzilli was hit by a pitch, Texas A&M pitcher Brigham Hill uncorked a wild pitch that eluded the catcher long enough for Baker to race around third and score from second for a 6-2 lead. Two batters later, Ryan Merrill doubled to left to bring in two more runs.
Texas A&M's only real threat beyond the first inning came in the eighth as it had two on and two out. Brian Trieglaff came on and got the final out to send the game to the ninth. Ryan Burnett got the final three outs in the ninth to lock up the TCU victory.
