Baseball Practice Starts Sunday

FORT WORTH, Texas – The 2009 baseball season gets underway on Sunday as the squad officially opens spring practice. The team will stretch at noon for its first practice in preparation for the start of the 2009 campaign. All practices are held at Lupton Stadium and free to the public.
The squad will also practice Monday through Wednesday before taking a day off on Thursday. Those practices are slated to begin at 2:15. On Friday the program will host its sixth annual Alumni Weekend. The team will hold the First Pitch Banquet at Ridgelea Country Club with former American League President Dr. Bobby Brown serving as this year’s guest speaker. On Saturday at 1 p.m. the team will get their first taste of game-action against another opponent as they take on the Alumni squad.
Throughout the season, the Frogs will practice Tuesdays thru Fridays from 2:00-5:00 and have Monday's off. All practices are open to the public. Media wishing to conduct interviews with players and coaches may do so by contacting Brandie Davidson at 817-343-2050.
TCU is coming off yet another successful campaign under head coach Jim Schlossnagle and staff. The Frogs swept the Mountain West Conference titles for the third straight season and tallied their third 40-win season in the last five years. TCU returns six all-conference performers and 19 letterwinners from last season’s 44-19 team.
The regular season begins Feb. 20 as the Frogs head west to take on No. 5 Cal State Fullerton. First pitch in Fullerton, Calif. is slated for 9 p.m. (CST).
