Alumni Game Set For Saturday

Feb. 3, 2015

FORT WORTH - Fans will be able to get an early peek at the 2015 TCU baseball team Saturday, Feb. 7 when they host the annual alumni game. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Lupton Stadium and admission is free.

Jake Arrieta will start for the alumni and face the varsity's Mitchell Traver. TCU legend Lance Brown will manage the alumni team. The varsity team will take batting practice beginning at 10:30 a.m. The alumni's batting practice will follow at 11:10.

TCU will conduct a fan appreciation event in conjunction with the Alumni game. Just like Kid's Days, which are every Sunday at Lupton Stadium, kids will be able to run the bases and get autographs after the game. The team will also open the doors to the brand new Malcolm G. Louden Player Development Center so fans can wander around and get an up-close view of the new facility.

The 2015 alumni squad will feature three new faces on their roster. Dylan Fitzgerald, Kevin Cron and Brandon Finnegan will all play in the opposite dugout for the first time. Finnegan (Kansas City Royals) and Arrieta (Chicago Cubs) will be two of five major league players on the alumni roster. Joining him will be Scott Atchison (Cleveland Indians), Matt Carpenter (St. Louis Cardinals) and Bryan Holaday (Detroit Tigers).

Also making their way to Fort Worth for TCU's annual Alumni Weekend will be a host of talented former players. The alumni roster features 18 players currently playing professional baseball. Along with the five major league players will be Jason Coats, Stefan Crichton, Cron, Josh Elander, Taylor Featherston, Paul Hendrix, Greg Holle, Andrew Mitchell, Jerome Pena, Trevor Seidenberger, Kyle Von Tungeln, Kyle Winkler and Jantzen Witte. Other familiar faces include: Clint Arnold, Lance Broadway, Ben Carruthers, Keith Conlon, Matt Curry, Sam Demel, Dylan Farrish, Brett Medlin and Davy Wright.

The No. 2 ranked Horned Frogs are set to open their season on Friday, Feb. 13 when they host Southern Illinois. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m. at Lupton Stadium.
