Baseball Season Gets Underway Friday

    FULLERTON, Calif. - For the second straight season, the TCU baseball team will kick off its season against nationally-ranked Cal State Fullerton. The No. 32 Horned Frogs open against the No. 5 Titans Friday night at Goodwin Field. First pitch of the three-game series is slated for 9 p.m. (CST).

    For the 13th consecutive year, all of the TCU baseball games can be heard over the airwaves on 88.7 FM KTCU. Chuck LaMendola will call all of the action live from the ballpark.

    • The Frogs were picked to win their fourth-straight conference crown.
    • TCU is 4-1 in season openers under Jim Schlossnagle, including 2-0 on the road.
    • TCU will open on the road for the third time in the last four years.
    • TCU returns 19 letterwinners and six starters from a year ago.
    • The Frogs welcomed 11 newcomers this season.
    • The Frogs are one of just 18 schools to appear in the last five Regionals and one of just three Texas schools to accomplish that feat.

    • Advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals in 2008, falling to Stanford.
    • Open the 2009 season ranked as high as No. 5 and as low as 13th.
    • They return 20 letterwinners from last year's squad as well as seven starters in the field.
    • The Titan roster features 16 newcomers.
    • The Titans posted a record of 27-10 at home in 2008.
    • Fullerton won the Big West Championship in 2008.

    • Friday's meeting wil be the eighth in the series, which Fullerton leads 6-1.
    • The Titans took a 2-1 series win in Fort Worth a year ago.
    • CSF swept a three game series in California in 1987.
    • Fullerton defeated the Frogs 4-1 in the 1994 Stillwater Regional.

    • TCU owns a record of 66-50 (.569) on the road under Jim Schlossnagle.
    • TCU last opened on the road in 2006 with a 10-1 win at UCF.
    • The Horned Frogs will play 28 road games this season.
