The TCU Horned Frogs open up a four-game road trip with a key Big 12 series at Oklahoma State. The three-game tilt begins Friday night at 6:30 in Stillwater.
TCU recorded its fifth shutout of the season with an 11-0 win over UTPA on Tuesday.
Brandon Finnegan continues to lead the nation in strikeouts with 65. He has fanned 10 or more in five of his six starts this year.
Boomer White has a career-long 15 game hitting streak and has reached base in all 24 games this season.
Dylan Fitzgerald has reached base safely in 20 straight games and has a six game hitting streak. He drove in four of TCU's 11 runs against UTPA.
The TCU pitching staff struck out 10 batters in Tuesday's game. They have fanned at least 10 batters in 12 games this season.
TCU leads the Big 12 with 230 strikeouts and ranks third with a 2.88 ERA.
The Horned Frogs have surrendered just 14 stolen bases, the third-fewest in the Big 12.
Cody Jones set a new career-high with his 14th stolen base, a mark that also leads the Big 12.
Will Foreman became the 14th Horned Frog to make his career debut on Tuesday.
OKLAHOMA STATE NOTABLES
Oklahoma State bounced back from a 2-1 series loss to Baylor with a 3-2 come-from-behind 11-inning victory over Missouri State Tuesday.
The Cowboys lead the Big 12 with 16 home runs.
Tanner Krietemeier's six home runs are also tops in the league.
Zach Fish is the leading hitter for the Cowboys with a .341 batting average.
Helped by Gage Green's 10 stolen bases, the Cowboys ranks second in the Big 12 with 44 stolen bases.
On the mound, OSU has a 3.38 ERA and ranks second with 222 strikeouts.
Brendan McCurry leads the team with four wins in 12 appearances out of the bullpen.
Alex Hackerott leads the Big 12 with 14 appearances on the mound.
The Cowboys rank fourth in the league with a .977 fielding percentage.
TCU and Oklahoma State will be meeting on the diamond for the 30th time.
TCU took a slim 16-13 series lead a year ago after the Horned Frogs won three of four meetings last season.
The Frogs won the regular season series 2-1 in Fort Worth, before rallying for an 8-4 win in the Big 12 Tournament.
The Horned Frogs are 8-5 against the Cowboys since Jim Schlossnagle took over.
From 1923-25, TCU and Oklahoma State met on the diamond as conference opponents.
Boomer White is in the midst of an impressive streak that has seen him reach base in all 24 games this season. Additionally, he boasts a career-long 14-game hitting streak.
White paces the Frogs with a .394 batting average, a mark that ranks fourth in the Big 12. During his hitting streak, White is hitting .431 (25-for-58). He has eight multi-hit games during the streak.
He has been held without a hit just twice this season and leads the squad with a .458 on-base percentage.
FINDING A WAY
Dylan Fitzgerald has an impressive streak of his going. The senior has reached base in 20 straight contests. He has reached base in 22 of the 23 games in which he's made a plate appearance.
Fitzgerald has tallied a hit in 16 of the 20 games he's reached base. He walked in two others and was hit by a pitch in two. The streak began with a 3-for-4 day at the plate against BYU on Feb. 21.
During the streak, Fitzgerald has a .316 (25-for-79) batting average, 10 walks and two hit by pitches. He boasts a .407 on-base percentage.
THE ACE OF THE STAFF
Brandon Finnegan has put together an impressive start to his junior campaign. In addition to leading the nation with 65 strikeouts, Finnegan ranks third nationally in K/9 with 13.40. He is one of just two pitchers with at least 60 strikeouts (Cal Poly's Matt Imhof has 64).
Finnegan leads the team with a 1.44 ERA in six starts this season. He has allowed runs in only two of his six starts. Five of the seven runs he has surrendered on the season came in a loss to Sam Houston State.
All six of Finnegan's starts have lasted at least six innings. He has fanned 10 or more batters in all but one start (vs. BYU when he had nine).
Heading into this weekend, Finnegan has not allowed a run in his last 14 1/3 innings pitched.
MOWING THEM DOWN
The TCU pitching staff leads the league and ranks tied for fourth in the nation with 229 strikeouts. Additionally, the 58 walks allowed are the fewest in the Big 12.
The Horned Frogs boast a 4.0 K:BB ratio, a mark that is fourth in the NCAA, while their 9.5 K/9 innings is fifth.
Twelve times this season, the Horned Frog pitching staff has struck out 10 or more batters in a game. On four occasions, the staff has totaled 15 strikeouts.
