FORT WORTH - TCU sophomore pitcher Brandon Finnegan was been invited to the 2013 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team. He becomes the fifth player in school history to earn a spot on the squad.

"Brandon has more than earned this opportunity to represent TCU and our great country in international play," said head coach Jim Schlossangle. "He has worked hard, matured and competed his way to becoming one of the premier left-handed pitchers in the college baseball. I am excited for him to have this great life experience."

Finnegan has put up outstanding numbers on the mound this season. His 2.12 ERA in 11 starts ranks eighth in the Big 12, while his 65 strikeouts are the second-most for a pitcher in the conference. He has been even better in conference play, leading the team with a 1.15 ERA to go along with 42 strikeouts in 39 innings pitched.

TCU will be well-represented this summer as Schlossnagle was selected to guide the 2013 Collegiate National Team. Danny Wheat will serve as the head athletic trainer for the second straight season, while Brandie Davidson will be the team's press officer.

Jake Arrieta was the first Horned Frog to earn a spot on the National Team roster, doing so in 2006, the same year Schlossnagle served as an assistant coach. In 2010 Kyle Winkler pitched for Team USA and Wheat was tabbed the head athletic trainer. TCU had a pair of representatives in 2011 as Josh Elander and Andrew Mitchell participated on the squad.
