FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU baseball freshman right-hander Preston Morrison has been named a third-team All-American by Louisville Slugger. It's the third straight season the Horned Frogs have produced an All-American pitcher.

Morrison splashed onto the collegiate scene this season, becoming the first player in Mountain West history to earn the league's Pitcher of the Year and Freshman of the Year in the same campaign. In 19 appearances, he has made eight starts and leads the team with a 9-1 record. Morrison paces the squad with 98 2/3 innings pitched and has fanned 64 batters while walking just eight. Opponents are hitting just .201 against him this season.

Nationally, Morrison is among the leaders in multiple statistical categories. He leads the nation with his 0.8 WHIP, ranks third in walks allowed per nine innings (0.73) and fifth in strikeout-to-walk ratio (8.0). His 1.73 ERA ranks 13th, while his nine victories are 29th nationally.

Morrison is the tenth player under head coach Jim Schlossnagle to earn All-American accolades. Since Schlossnagle arrived on campus in 2004, he has produced eight All-American pitchers (Robbie Findlay, 2004; Lance Broadway, 2005; Jake Arrieta, 2006; Andrew Cashner, 2008; Matt Purke, 2010; Steven Maxwell, 2010; Kyle Winkler, 2011, Preston Morrison, 2012).
