Pair of Freshmen Honored By Louisville Slugger

FORT WORTH - Alex Young and Boomer White have been named Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-Americans as announced by Collegiate Baseball today. Since 2004, TCU has produced 15 Freshmen All-Americans.
Young's honor comes on the heels of a tremendous debut campaign. A second-team All-Big 12 performer, Young was also selected to the Big 12 All-Freshman team. He wrapped up his freshman season with a 7-4 record in 22 appearances. The left-hander fanned 37 batters in 40 2/3 innings pitched and held opponents to a .187 batting average against.
White was tabbed as an honorable mention All-Big 12 performer as well as earning a spot on the Big 12 All-Freshman team. TCU's leading hitter this season, White hit .314 in 53 games played. He ranked second on the team with 13 doubles and drove in 27 runs. As the everyday left fielder, White collected 17 multi-hit games this season.
The TCU coaching staff has mentored two freshmen to All-American accolades each of the last four seasons. In seven of Jim Schlossnagle's 10 seasons as the head coach, he has produced multiple Freshmen All-Americans.
They are the 14th and 15th freshman under the guidance of Schlossnagle to earn freshman All-American accolades. He joins an impressive list of former Frogs who have been tabbed Freshmen All-Americans. Royce Huffman was the first Frog to earn the honor in 1996. In 2004, Chad Huffman, Shelby Ford and German Duranwere the first to be honored in the Schlossnagle era. Also honored were Matt McGuirk (2005), Andrew Walker (2005), Sean Hoelscher (2008), Trent Appleby (2008), Matt Purke (2010), Josh Elander (2010), Andrew Mitchell (2011), Stefan Crichton (2011), Kevin Cron (2012) and Preston Morrison (2012).
