FORT WORTH, Texas - Four more TCU Horned Frogs were taken on the final day of MLB's First-Year Player Draft. Selected Wednesday were Erik Miller (31st, Cincinnati), Steven Maxwell (37th, Chicago Cubs), Jerome Pena (38th, Baltimore) and Kaleb Merck (43rd, Texas). The eight total players drafted sets a new single-season record for TCU. The previous high of seven was set back in the 2007 season.

Miller was the first Frog taken in the draft on Wednesday, going in the 31st round to Cincinnati. In his three years at TCU, the junior has seen action on the mound as a starter, middle relief and as a closer. He amassed 67 appearances, including 10 starts. He is 8-10 in his career with eight saves. The junior racked up 113 strikeouts in 132 2/3 innings pitched.

Maxwell enjoyed an outstanding career at TCU that saw him develop into an All-American pitcher. He was twice named all-conference and in 2010 was selected as the MWC Pitcher of the Year. Over the course of his career, Maxwell posted a 21-5 record in 59 appearances. In 244 innings pitched, he fanned 199 and posted a solid 3.43 ERA. TCU was 44-15 in games he pitched and 32-11 in games he started.

Pena was an everyday starter at second base for the Frogs the last two seasons, making 124 starts. He is a two-time all-conference honoree. A career .289 hitter, Pena tallied 28 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs and drove in 83 in his two years at TCU. He totaled 34 multi-hit contests and 21 multiple RBI games.

Merck redshirted this season after undergoing Tommy John Surgery in the fall. He has made 39 appearances on the mound in his time at TCU, posting a 2-1 record and a 3.04 ERA. In 47 1/3 innings pitched, Merck has racked up 45 strikeouts.

Jim Schlossnagle has seen 34 players drafted by 19 different organizations in his eight seasons as the head coach at TCU.
