Three Frogs Drafted On Final Day

FORT WORTH – Mitchell Traver, Cam Warner and Elliott Barzilli were drafted on Day 3 of the 2017 MLB First Year Player Draft. In total, TCU had six athletes drafted.

Mitchell Traver was a 20th round pick of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. A five-year member of the baseball team, Traver has made 11 starts this season. He boasts a 4-1 record with a 3.79 ERA in 40 1/3 innings pitched. The senior has tallied 48 strikeouts and is limiting opponents to a .205 average.

Cam Warner was taken in the 28th round by the Detroit Tigers. Warner has started all 63 games this season and ranks second on the team with 49 RBIs. He is hitting .292 with 11 doubles and five home runs while contributing 10 stolen bases.

The Miami Marlins took Elliott Barzilli in the 32nd round. Barzilli has played in all 62 games, making 59 starts. He ranks second on the team with 14 doubles and while contributing six home runs and totaling 30 RBIs.

Austen Wade (5th round, Cleveland) was the first Horned Frog drafted on Day 2. Evan Skoug followed in the 7th round to the Chicago White Sox and Brian Howard in the 8th round to Oakland.

During his 14 seasons as TCU's head coach, Jim Schlossnagle has seen 70 players drafted by 26 organizations.
