FORT WORTH - Preston Morrison and Riley Ferrell earned a spot on the 24-man USA Baseball Collegiate National Team. Across the country, TCU baseball players continue to make waves among various baseball summer leagues.

All three of the TCU invites to the USA Baseball Training Camp made the USA Collegiate National Team when the final roster was announced on June 30. Brandon Finnegan, Preston Morrison and Riley Ferrell earned their spots on the roster managed by TCU coach Jim Schlossnagle.

Finnegan is 2-0 in as many starts for Team USA this season with 8 2/3 innings pitched, eight strikeouts and has only allowed two runs (one earned). Morrison has pitched 4 1/3 innings of relief work with seven strikeouts and recorded the save in Finnegan's second outing. Ferrell pitched a shutout ninth inning on June 28 to end the game and recorded three strikeouts for all three outs of the inning.

On June 25, Trey Teakell made his third start of the season and pitched seven innings of shutout ball with four strikeouts in a 4-0 win for the Cape Cod Falmouth Commodores. His ERA has reached a team-low 1.47 for starting pitchers who are still with the team. Fellow Frog Morrison had a 1.42 when he left to join the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team in North Carolina.

Kevin Cron leads the Commodores in batting average by players with 30 ABs or more, hitting at a .310 clip. He also leads the team in hits and doubles with 18 and 7, respectively. His consistency at the plate has earned him an everyday spot in the lineup at either first base or the designated hitter positions.

Keaton Jones has become a reliable force at the plate for the Santa Barbara Foresters this season. Although only batting .241, Jones leads the team in doubles with five and walks with 18, has driven in 11 RBIs and has the second-most hits with runners in scoring position with 10.

The Frogs have four players in the Northwoods League this summer playing for the Green Bay Bullfrogs and the Lakeshore Chinooks. Boomer White continues to lead the Bullfrogs in batting average at .303 in 25 games. He leads the team in doubles with five and has collected 12 RBIs as well. Brian Trieglaff has pitched 17 innings for the Bullfrogs this season with his last five outings coming out of the bullpen. He has nine strikeouts and has 1-2 record with one save that came against the Battle Creek Bombers on June 28.

Alex Young is still looking for his first win after three starts for the Lakeshore Chinooks this season. Over 19 1/3 innings pitched, Young has 21 strikeouts and has put together a 2.32 ERA. Jerrick Suiter has launched a team-leading four home runs and is batting .214 in the utility role for the Chinooks.

Cody Jones has appeared in 13 of the Newport Gulls' 15 games this season and has put together a team-high .320 batting average for batters with 50 ABs or more. He continues to lead the team in stolen bases with nine in 11 attempts.

Travis Evans picked up his third win of the season last week for the San Luis Obispo Blues. In 24 2/3 innings, Evans has an impressive 1.76 ERA, has recorded 24 strikeouts and opposing batters are only hitting .213 against him.

Colton Turner is swinging a hot bat for the Southern Ohio Copperheads with a team-leading .444 batting average and has 12 hits and eight RBIs.
