Cron Gets All-Star Nod

FORT WORTH - First baseman Kevin Cron has earned the start for the West Division in the Friendly's Cape League All-Star Game on Saturday, July 27.

Cron has struck fear into opposing pitchers with a .345 batting average, a team-leading eight doubles, four home runs and 24 RBI. Cron will join five other Falmouth Commodores in the starting lineup, the most from any club in the Cape Cod League. The All-Star Game will be broadcast nationally on Fox College Sports at 4:30 p.m.

Cron isn't the only Frog playing for Falmouth that has had a great season. Trey Teakell in his sixth start of the summer picked up his fourth win on July 18 while pitching seven innings and striking out four batters. His ERA is now 2.97 and has recorded 18 strikeouts this summer.

Brandon Finnegan made two appearances last week for the USA Collegiate National Team. His first was in relief where he pitched one inning of scoreless baseball with two strikeouts. His second appearance was a start vs. Cuba and pitched seven innings and struck out seven to earn the 1-0 win and the series-clenching game.

Preston Morrison and Riley Ferrell also made relief appearances last week for Team USA. Morrison appeared in two games pitching 4 2/3 innings and striking out five batters. Ferrell also appeared in two games, both times coming in the ninth inning, once in a 12-3 blowout to end the game and the other to earn the save against Cuba. Team USA leads the series 3-0 with two games left.

Boomer White continues to light up pitchers as he's racked up a .320 batting average this season for the Green Bay Bullfrogs. White leads the team in hits with 54, doubles with 11, triples with two and RBI with 34. Brian Trieglaff pitched in two games this week in relief and picked up his second save of the summer on July 17.


 

 

Keaton Jones is batting .238 with seven doubles and 17 RBI for the Santa Barbara Foresters this summer. He's also drawn a team-leading 29 walks, 15 came with runners in scoring position and also has 12 hits with runners in scoring position.

Jerrick Suiter has a thirst for the long ball as he's launched a team-leading seven home runs for the Lakeshore Chinooks this summer. He has also driven in 13 runs and has accumulated a batting average of .223.

Cody Jones has been a problem for opposing teams as he's drawn a team-leading 19 walks and stolen 16 bases. He's also put together a .248 batting average and driven in seven runs for the Newport Gulls this summer.

Travis Evans did not pitch last week fort he San Luis Obispo Blues but has recorded a team-best 4-0 record with a 1.93 ERA and 29 strikeouts.

Colton Turner has put up solid numbers for the Southern Ohio Copperheads this summer. He's put together a .263 batting average and recorded 18 RBI.
