Morrison Tabbed Third-Team Preseason All-American
Dec. 18, 2013
FORT WORTH - TCU baseball junior pitcher Preston Morrison was named a third-team National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association (NCBWA) preseason All-American. It marks the second straight year that Morrison has received preseason recognition and the fourth consecutive year TCU has had a preseason All-American.
Morrison is coming off a strong sophomore campaign that saw him earn first-team All-Big 12 honors and a spot on the 2013 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team. In 2013, the right-hander went 7-3 and led the pitching staff with a 1.51 ERA in 107 innings pitched.
In his two seasons on campus, Morrison has been a fixture on the mound. He owns a career record of 16-5 in 37 appearances and boasts a 1.80 ERA in 219 2/3 innings pitched. His list of honors is long as he has been named a 2012 Louisville Slugger third-team All-American in addition to becoming the first player in Mountain West history to earn both Freshman and Pitcher of the Year accolades. He has been a first-team all-conference performer in each of his seasons at TCU.
The start of the 2014 campaign is just around the corner. TCU will open the year with a four-game homestand beginning Feb. 14 when Jacksonville comes to Fort Worth for a three-game series.
