Five days after being named to the 2008 USA Baseball roster for the Beijing Olympics, Eugene Espineli earned his first call-up to the major leagues when he was promoted from Triple-A Fresno to San Francisco. Espineli was called up Saturday night and made his big league debut Sunday afternoon. He pitched a perfect eighth inning and tallied one strikeout. (Full Story)

Former TCU All-American Jake Arrieta was selected to the United States Olympic team that will participate in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Joining Arrieta on the team is another former Frog in Eugene Espineli. The pair are the lone Horned Frogs to represent the United States in Beijing bringing TCU's representation to six athletes at the Olympics, joining four former TCU track stars. TCU is the only school with two former players on the squad. (Full Story)

Andrew Cashner, the 19th overall pick in the 2008 MLB Draft, has inked a contract with the Chicago Cubs. He becomes the third Horned Frog to sign a professional contract this summer. As part of the deal, the right-handed pitcher receives an invitation to the 2009 big league Spring Training camp in 2009. (Full Story)
