2012-13 | FRESHMAN YEAR at UTEP Washburn appeared in all 32 games for UTEP in 2012-13 with four starts ... he was third on the team in blocked shots, fourth in steals and fifth in rebounding ... opened his UTEP career with three straight double-figure scoring performances while becoming the first Miner freshman to accomplish the feat in a decade ... he posted his career high of 14 points in the season opener against Oral Roberts while later notching his top rebounding total at East Carolina with eight boards ... averaged 4.4 ppg and 2.9 rpg with a .474 field goal percentage ... third on the squad in blocks (0.5 bpg) and fourth in steals (0.8 spg) ... scored 13 of his 14 points in the second half in the season opener against Oral Roberts ... tallied 11 points during the Miners' decisive 26-5 run that turned a 38-37 deficit into a 63-43 lead ... made 6-of-7 shots versus the Golden Eagles (6-of-6 in the second half) ... added three assists, three steals and a block in 16 reserve minutes ... tied for the team lead with 11 points (4-for-6 FGs, 3-for-5 FTs) in 27 minutes at Arizona ... also paced the squad with four rebounds and two steals versus the Wildcats ... added 12 points, making 6-of-9 free throws, against Oklahoma ... played 28 minutes versus the Sooners and chipped in with six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and three steals ... was on the floor for a season-high 31 minutes against Oregon with three steals.
PREP CAREER Prior to signing with UTEP, Washburn put together a decorated prep career for South Grand Prairie High, where Rivals.com rated him as one of the nation's top-120 players for the class of 2012 and a four-star prospect ... he led the Warriors to a 35-3 record as a senior while earning numerous accolades, including All-State 5A, All-Region 5A and District 5-5A MVP ... Washburn, a McDonald's All-American nominee, posted individual figures of 12 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals per game as a senior and shot 52.4 percent from the floor ... he made more than 60 percent of his shots as a junior while collecting average figures of 13.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.5 steals.
