2011-12 | JUNIOR SEASON Crossland, who joined TCU from John A. Logan College, saw action in 32 games during his first season on campus with eight starts ... led the Frogs in rebounding twice and pulled down five boards or more on eight occasions ... ranked fifth on the team in rebounding and ninth in scoring ... shot 50.8 percent from the field overall, which was second among all Frogs with at least 50 field-goal attempts ... pulled down an average of 3.9 rebounds during Mountain West games, which tied for 20th among all league players ... contributed a career-best nine points to go along with eight rebounds and two blocks at Air Force (Feb. 22) while playing a career-high 22 minutes ... earned the first start of his career during TCU's comeback win in overtime over No. 11 UNLV (Feb. 14) ... totaled eight points while tying for the team lead with seven rebounds against Colorado State (Feb. 11) ... also had eight points on the road against the Rams (Jan. 14) ... hit 2-of-2 3-point attempts at Colorado State ... hauled in three rebounds and a trio of assists against UT-Pan American (Jan. 11) ... dished out a career-best four assists against Grambling State (Dec. 22) ... racked up seven points and a career-high 11 rebounds in 21 minutes at USC (Dec. 20) ... tallied four points and six rebounds in 15 minutes of action against Austin College (Nov. 14) ... made his TCU debut during the season-opening home win vs. Florida Gulf Coast (Nov. 11).
AT JOHN A. LOGAN COLLEGE Connell Crossland arrived at TCU from John A. Logan College in Carterville, Ill., where he was ranked as the nation's No. 123 junior college prospect for the 2010-11 season by JucoJunction.com ... led the Volunteers in 2010-11 with averages of 17.0 points, 12.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocked shots per game while shooting 58 percent from the field ... played alongside Horned Frog teammate Nate Butler at John A. Logan ...ranked No. 4 nationally among Division I junior college players ... named to both the All-Region 24 and All-Great Rivers Athletic Conference first teams ... helped the Volunteers reach the semifinals of the 2011 Region 24 Tournament ... spent the previous season at Highland Community College in Freeport, Ill., averaging 11.4 points, 6.9 boards and 1.1 blocks per contest ... also drew interest from a group of schools that included Missouri, San Diego State, Gonzaga, Detroit and Saint Louis.
PREP CAREER Crossland attended high school at St. Louis-area Hazelwood Central, where he helped the Hawks win the 2009 Suburban North Conference championship as a senior while averaging 14.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 1.3 steals per game ... played AAU ball for the St. Louis Majestics.
OFF THE COURT Crossland is the son of Connell and Salonda Crossland ... has three brothers, Ciera, Danielle and April, one brother, Ranell, and a niece, Zariah ... cousin is 12-year NBA veteran Larry Hughes, who played college ball for St. Louis and was the No. 8 overall selection in the 1998 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers ... major is communication studies.
