Paulk played in 18 contests, starting once against Nevada... scored 13 points for an average of 0.7 points per game... logged a then career-high six points and six boards in December 6 contest against Virginia Commonwealth... overall, he had 20 rebounds on the year, six offensive and 14 defensive boards... also added five blocks and four steals... contributed nine quality minutes in 84-76 win at SMU... against the Mustangs, he made his only shot, grabbed two rebounds, made two steals and handed out three assists.
Paulk saw action in 23 contests on the hardwood for the Horned Frogs, making four starts... averaged 1.8 points and 1.9 rebounds per game... Paulk got his first start at TCU vs. Louisiana-Monroe on Nov. 27, scoring two points and grabbing four rebounds... played a season-high 19 minutes vs. UT-San Antonio on Dec. 6... enjoyed the best game of his career in that contest with 10 rebounds and three blocked shots, along with four points, two assists and a steal, in TCU's 100-80 victory... came back with three more blocks in his next contest vs. Southwest Missouri State... scored a season-high six points at Rice on Feb. 2, hitting 2-of-3 from the field and both of his free throw attempts... fouled out of two games... collected five fouls in just nine minutes at Alaska-Fairbanks on Nov. 20 and was also disqualified at Tulsa on Feb. 5... hauled in more offensive rebounds (22) than defensive boards (21).

Oklahoma's Small School Player of the Year for 1998, Paulk ended his high school career as perhaps the most decorated athlete in Blanchard High School history... a four-year letterman in basketball, Paulk also earned letters in football (one year) and track & field (three years)... he was the basketball team's most valuable player three consecutive seasons (1996-98) and conference MVP in 1997 and 1998... averaged 19.4 points per game as a senior while grabbing 9.7 rebounds and averaging 4.3 blocked shots per contest, leading his team to the state tournament... he hit 60% from the floor and nailed 68% from the free-throw line... earned first-team all-state honors, the first Blanchard player to earn that recognition... also was named MVP of the state's Tournament of Champions, in addition to first-team All-State Tournament honors, mention on the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches' All-Star Team and a spot on the elite Oklahoma Super 5 list of outstanding high school senior hoopsters... as a junior, he averaged 21.7 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 5.2 blocked shots per game while shooting 63 percent from the field and 61 percent from the line... as a sophomore, he averaged 16.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 5.5 blocked shots per game....Blanchard's only two trips ever to the state tournament came in Paulk's junior and senior seasons... Paulk also distinguished himself in the classroom, graduating in the top 10 percent (with honors) of a class of 80 seniors.
Rebel David Paulk was born October 5, 1979, in Blanchard, Oklahoma... the son of David and Debbie Paulk... an elementary education major at TCU... engaged to Brenda Anderson, a former TCU golfer.
