Chris Zurcher saw his opportunities to contribute increase in his second season with the TCU program as a sophomore ... appeared in 28 games off the bench as the primary backup point guard to Kyan Anderson, including all but one Big 12 contest ... finished the season with a career-best streak of 14 consecutive games played ... had four games with two or more assists and five with at least two points ... made his season debut against Centenary (Nov. 12), tallying two assists ... played a then-career-high 12 minutes and tied his previous high of two assists against Houston (Dec. 4) ... scored his first points of the season on a pair of free throws at Tulsa (Dec. 8) ... saw the most extensive action of his career during the Dec. 22 road win at Rice with 26 minutes as starting point guard Kyan Anderson sat for much of the game in foul trouble ... totaled five points and pulled down a career-best two rebounds vs. the Owls ... played 18 minutes at West Virginia (Jan. 23), his top total to date in a conference game ... made a brief appearance late in TCU's home win over No. 5 Kansas (Feb. 6) ... set a career high with three assists at No. 9 Kansas (Feb. 23) to lead the Frogs in the category for the first time ... hit his only shot, a 3, at No. 9 Kansas State (March 5) and added a steal ... knocked down his only field-goal attempt in the home win against Oklahoma (March 9).
2011-12 | FRESHMAN SEASON Zurcher saw limited action in nine games during his first season on the TCU roster ... was selected to play for the squad as a walk-on in the preseason after initially joining the program as a student manager ... scored nine point in only six minutes of action during his first appearance in a Frog uniform during the No. 14 home win over Austin College ... went 4-for-4 from the field and hit his only 3-point attempt against the Kangaroos ... added his second 3 of the season during the Feb. 4 loss at No. 17 San Diego State ... grabbed his first career steal Dec. 22 vs. Grambling State before adding another theft and the first rebound of his career Jan. 11 vs. UT Pan American ... also saw action at USC (Dec. 19), at Wyoming (Feb. 28), vs. No. 21 San Diego State (March 3), vs. Colorado State in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Championship (March 8) and at Oregon State in the quarterfinals of the CBI (March 19).
PRIOR TO TCU Zurcher originally arrived at TCU at the start of the Spring 2011 semester ... was not with the Frog basketball program in his first year on campus.
PREP CAREER Zurcher played high school ball at Johnson High in San Antonio ... was named Team MVP each of his final three seasons (2008-10) at Johnson ... named all-district 26-5A as a senior, when he averaged 12 points and six assists ... was award the "Best Playmaker" honor at the 2009 Five-Star Basketball Camp held in Orlando, Fla.
