FORT WORTH, Texas - Kelly Wise had 22 points and 18 rebounds, tying the Conference USA record with his 35th career double-double, as Memphis beat TCU 98-93 Wednesday night with a dominating inside performance.

Chris Massie added 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting and had 17 rebounds for the Tigers (12-4, 2-0 C-USA), who had a 55-36 rebound margin over TCU (10-6, 0-2). Memphis freshman sensation Dajuan Wagner had 21 points and 10 assists.

Memphis went ahead to stay when Massie scored on a putback for a 56-55 lead less than three minutes into the second half.

The Tigers extended the lead to 80-70 when Wise scored inside and then made a free throw with just under 11 minutes left. That was enough to withstand a late TCU rally.

Wise tied former North Carolina-Charlotte DeMarco Johnson with his 35th career double-double. It was his seventh this season. Earl Barron added 13 points and Antonio Burks had 10 for Memphis.

Marlon Dumont had 19 points to lead six TCU players in double figures. Junior Blount had 17 points, Corey Valsin 16, Jamal Brown 14, Corey Santee 11 and Bingo Merriex 10.

After Dumont made the opening basket of the game, TCU trailed by 10 points three different times before Santee made a 3-pointer with 3:51 left for a 39-38 lead.

Santee's basket was the first of three 3-pointers in just more than a minute for TCU. But Memphis was even at 45 on Wagner's 3-pointer with 2:13 left and trailed just 50-48 at halftime.
