The Horned Frogs and 49ers battled back and forth in the second half, and with the score tied 81-81, TCU's Aaron Curtis was long on an open three-point attempt from the left side with seven seconds remaining. Charlotte had the rebound but was unable to get a shot off before the horn. Neither team made a field goal in the final 3:38 of regulation.
TCU committed turnovers on its first four possessions in overtime, and Charlotte scored the first nine points of the extra frame to key the win. The game featured 17 ties and 16 lead changes.
