POSTGAME QUOTES
TCU 83, Milwaukee 73
2012 CBI presented by Zebra Pen – First Round
Fort Worth, Texas (Daniel-Meyer Coliseum)
March 13, 2012
Attendance: 1,062

TCU HEAD COACH Jim Christian
On his team’s sloppy first half:
“You only have one day to prepare (for the matchup). You find out who you play on Sunday night at 9 p.m., so you can't practice. For the most part, I thought our guys stepped up. They played 40 minutes.

On positives the team will take from playing in the CBI:
“Here's why we play these tournaments—I'm going to give you three plays. In the first half, Kyan Anderson took his first charge of the season. He saw the play and made the play. Amric Fields took a charge in the second half. Nate Butler, who hasn't been playing well for the last two months, hit three 3’s. When people ask, ‘Why do you play these tournaments?’ That's why you play, so these guys can get their confidence and get the chance to develop their games. They get a chance to play better and allow our program to move forward.”

TCU SOPHOMORE FORWARD Amric Fields
On being able to extend the season:
“It's fun. I'll play basketball all the way to April if I can, but I just want to go out and win this thing because we deserve it.”

On being a part of TCU’s first postseason run in several seasons:
“It feels good. I think we deserve it. We played so hard during the season. We just want to play hard and go out and win this thing.”

On his team’s work on the defensive end of the court:
“I think our defense still needs a little bit of work here and there, but we showed flashes of it. We took charges that we don't usually take today, and things like that. Once we put it all together, it could be scary.

MILWAUKEE HEAD COACH ROB JETER
On the difference in the game:
“We get it down to two, and more importantly it's not just one play, but a series of them. We missed some shots. We didn't defend the 3 very well. We had too many turnovers, and I know they had more than we did, but when you're playing behind you can't just lose those opportunities. We couldn't get over the hump, and that sums it up.”

On the impact of junior forward James Haarsma fouling out:
“It did hurt us. He was playing well and we were mixing it up inside. Not having him on the floor down the stretch was a blow for us.”

On his team’s season:
“We had some great opportunities this season. We took advantage of some yet left others on the table, and that kind of sums up a lot of teams' years. For us, we see a few games that could have gone our way and maybe made a difference.”
