FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU dominated Alabama State Monday night from start to finish, upending the Hornets inside Schollmaier Arena, 98-62.

The Rundown
The Horned Frogs, now 2-0 on the season, came out of the gates firing on all cylinders on both ends of the court, limiting Alabama State to only 15 first half points and a dismal 11.1 percent from beyond the arc. During the opening frame alone, the Frogs' relentless defense held ASU to only seven made buckets and 17 turnovers.

When it was all said and done, TCU, who closed the first half on an 18-2 run, limited Alabama State (0-2) to the eighth fewest points in a first half in program history. The Purple and White also held the Hornets to the No. 9 lowest total of any half all-time.

For the game, TCU shot a blistering 59.7 percent from the field, including 45.5 percent from deep. The Horned Frogs, who forced ASU into 22 total turnovers, dished out the rock 29 times, while posting 12 steals. The 29 assists were the most in a game since the Frogs had 21 against Houston Baptist in 2015.

Individually, freshman Desmond Bane carried the load with a strong second half, scoring a season-high 19 points on 6-of-10 from the field. JD Miller followed with 17 points on 7-of-9 from the field, while freshman Jaylen Fisher finished with 13 points and a season-high eight assists.

Karviar Shepherd and Brandon Parrish closed out the scoring for the Frogs with 10 points apiece, respectively. Shepherd just missed a double-double with a team-high eight rebounds. Finally, fresh off his 16-point outing, sophomore Alex Robinson rounded out the TCU notables, tallying seven points and eight assists in 29 minutes of action.

Alabama State was led by Tony Armstrong's 18-point outing on 5-of-13 from the field. Rodney Simeon was the only other Hornet in double-figures with 13 points.

The second half was more of the same as Bane gave TCU a 59-25 advantage with an alley-oop dunk and three ball early on. The freshman would continue his hot start to the second frame at the 16:39 mark, scoring his seventh-straight point to give TCU a 61-27 advantage.

By the time Fisher and Parrish rattled home back-to-back three's on consecutive trips, the Purple and White had built a comfortable 73-38 lead with 12:43 on the clock. They never looked back the rest of the way as TCU for a second-straight game had at least five players score in double-figures Monday night.

TCU jumped all over Alabama State early, running out to an 8-2 advantage, but the Hornets answered until Miller exploded to the hole for a flush plus the foul to make it an 11-4 game at about the 15-mintue mark. Shepherd and Miller combined to score the first 12 points of the ballgame for the Frogs.

With TCU clinging to a 15-7 lead midway through, Robinson would score on a run out and then watch as Fisher tickled the twine for deep to give the Purple and White a 20-7 advantage at the 10:57 mark of the opening frame. The Frogs would push it to 24-9 a few plays later at the charity stripe before Miller would connect on a triple from the corner to extend the lead to 27-9 with a little over 6 minutes remaining in the opening frame.

The two teams would go back and forth the next couple of trips, but TCU would take a 33-13 lead in the contest late in the period as Parrish exploded to the hole for two more. The Frogs would put it on cruise control the rest of the half, taking a 47-15 lead into halftime.

Quote of the Game
Jamie Dixon, TCU Head Coach
""The first half was really good for us. Our defense was something we have worked on and have been trying to emphasize. It was really a good day for us in that regard. The ball movement was great, 29 assists on 37 baskets, so I'm excited about that. I thought the last two days were very good for us. We had great preparation, which allowed us to get better. We improved these three days."
