FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Marcus Shropshire, who began his college career at Texas Tech, hit a 3-pointer falling down to start a game-turning run and TCU went on to beat his former team 83-68 Tuesday night.

Corey Santee added 20 points and Nile Murry had 16, scoring 13 points with four 3-pointers after halftime when the Horned Frogs (3-0) turned the close game into an unexpected runaway. TCU led by as many as 22 points.

Shropshire played his first two seasons at Tech, his last the 2001-02 season that was Bob Knight's first there. He sat out a year after transferring to TCU with new coach Neil Dougherty, then was the team's second-leading scorer behind Santee last season.

Shropshire had 12 points. He made his only 3-pointer as he fell down toward the Texas Tech bench with 1:51 left in the first half after a wild pass from Chudi Chinweze. That started a 10-0 run and put TCU ahead to stay.

After Texas Tech (1-1) was charged with its 11th turnover - two more than in its opener - Chinweze scored an inside basket at the other end. That gave TCU a 37-36 halftime lead.

Murry banked a 3-pointer from the right corner to start the scoring in the second half. Santee's short jumper gave the Horned Frogs a 42-36 lead before Devonne Giles' jumper ended the 10-0 run.

By the time Santee hit a 3-pointer and then made a layup on consecutive possessions, TCU had a 53-42 lead. The Frogs maintained a double-digit lead the final 13 minutes in one of the biggest wins so far for Dougherty.

TCU was 21-36 its first two seasons under the former Kansas assistant. Two years ago, in Dougherty's fourth game with the Frogs, Texas Tech won 84-66 on the same court.

The Red Raiders shot just 29 percent (nine of 31) after halftime, after making 13 of 27 shots before then. They finished with 17 turnovers.

Chinweze had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Judson Stubbs added 10 points for TCU.

Giles led Texas Tech with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Martin Zeno scored 13 points, while Curtis Marshall had 12 and Jarrius Jackson 10.

In their season-opening 119-55 win over NC-Asheville, eight Red Raiders scored in double figures.
