Recap |  Final Stats |  Notes

TCU 57, UTPA 48
Daniel-Meyer Coliseum
Fort Worth, Texas

TCU Head Coach Trent Johnson
Opening statement:

"Obviously, a wins a win and I'm happy about the victory. I don't want to take anything away from UTPA because I thought they played well. They were better than us for 35 minutes. We didn't practice very well this week, but we have time to tweak some things before the next game. We are not good enough right now to not play and compete at a fever pitch every time out."

TCU Freshman Center Karviar Shepherd

On today's game:

"They are a good team. We came out slow, but were able to still find a way to win. We played our hearts out in the end."

On his personal progress this season:
"I'm just really focused on doing well. I can't help my team if I don't do what I need to do. I just need to go out there and do the best that I can."

TCU Junior Guard Kyan Anderson

On the nine day break:

"We definitely had some cobwebs coming off the long stretch between games, but we tried to get all of that out of the way by having harder practices during the week. I feel like towards the end of the week that we were able to work through a lot of the cobwebs."

On the five minute rally to win:
"I feel like towards the end, when we turned it up, we did what we needed to do. Obviously the team struggled with starting early, but it's still a learning process for these guys and we are trying to get it done at home."
