POSTGAME QUOTES
TCU 68, Southern 57
Fort Worth, Texas (Daniel-Meyer Coliseum)
Dec. 18, 2012
Attendance: 3,896

TCU HEAD COACH Trent Johnson
On TCU’s performance:
“Southern is a really good basketball team. Watching them on tape, they’ve been in every game this season. They’re really patient offensively, and defensively they’ll force you to shoot late in the shot clock. We did a good job identifying shooters in the second half, and we lost a couple of guys on breakdowns and they’ll make you pay because they can shoot the ball. Defensively in the post, McKinney has continued to improve. All in all, that was one of our most complete games of the year, but we need to continue to get better.”

On how the team fared after its long layoff:
“We did a lot of things for the first time in a while, like shooting around 50 percent. When we got back from our break, we were able to focus on some things specifically, and after 7-8 days of practice, it’s nice to get a win as a reward.”

On Southern’s performance:
“This is as good a team as we’ve played … I like their discipline and their coach has done good things in a short amount of time.”

On the team’s offensive improvement against Southern:
“We’re going to run our stuff and execute. Sometimes the ball goes in and sometimes it doesn’t, but a lot of our shots fell tonight. Adrick (McKinney) got some shots and so did Garlon (Green). One guy everyone pays attention to is Kyan (Anderson) and that means a lot of guys will have open shots. We set a lot of proper screens and made some good passes, and that opened some things up. That’s all part of execution and efficiency, and for the most part I think we did that against a good team.”

SENIOR GUARD/FORWARD Garlon Green
On his team’s performance:
“I think we had one of our best defensive games. We had a good breakdown playing a team that shoots the ball really well, so I think we did a good job in the second half.”

On TCU’s halftime adjustments:
“At halftime [Coach Johnson] told us to keep up with them at the 3-point line, because they’re a real good shooting team. We didn’t have good breakdowns at first with that.”

On what the team focused on during its long layoff:
“For one, we focused on rebounding and a lot of transition defense and stuff like that. We also shot the ball a lot over break.”
