TCU 77, Texas Southern 64

Trent Johnson
Opening Statement:
"Texas Southern is a very good basketball team. Offensively, one of the things we talked about is them being one of the most efficient and explosive teams we have faced. For the most part I thought we did a good job limiting Murray's touches. One of the things we wanted to do was double up in the post."

"It's a good win for us in that we finally have a healthy team out there for the most part. Everything we have done up until this point though goes out the window because it's time for Big 12 basketball. We will have tomorrow off and come back at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday to prepare for a very good and physical West Virginia team. The Big 12 is the top RPI conference in the country. It's not even close when you look at the calibur of coaching, players and venues. It's pretty impressive. I'm speaking from my experience in the other leagues I've been in. Everybody needs to be at their best to win games and it's gonna be fun but very challenging."

On how quick he was to decide on Amric Fields playing:
"Amric has been working with the first group. The key in whether or not he starts or comes off the bench is if he tries to do too much. We wanted to monitor his minutes and condition today. There are seven to eight guys who are playing well and could be considered starters, but we need everybody to do so."

On how much shape Fields is in after injury:
"He's tired. He was laboring at times. He's talented and a good basketball player, so for him to get 17 points and 12 rebounds coming off the ACL injury is something. He still has a ways to go."

Amric Fields
On his comeback to the team:

"It feels good. I gotta give credit to these guys for holding me to a higher standard. Every time they play it brings my confidence up. I feel comfortable with my teammates."

On if he is considered the reason for the team's offensive improvement:
"I think it would have been nice, but the team would have been fine waiting a few games. Without me they are a good basketball team. I'm just happy to be a part of it."

Brandon Parrish
On how he views the team after non-conference play has concluded:
"I really think we are a talented team. Even when we are up a lot and teams cut it close, we find a way to win. Hopefully, it will prepare us well for the future in Big 12 play."

On how the five-game winning streak will transition into Big 12 play:
"It does give us a nice bit of confidence. I don't know how many we have won in a row, but we have a nice winning streak going into conference and hopefully it all pays off."
