IRVING, Texas – TCU senior forward Connell Crossland has been named Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Crossland is the first Horned Frogs player in league history to win a weekly men’s basketball honor.

A native of St. Louis, Mo., Crossland helped TCU post a 1-1 record last week that included the squad’s first Big 12 victory, a 63-55 home win Wednesday over No. 5 Kansas. He averaged a double-double on the week featuring figures of 10.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game and shot 50.0 percent (6-of-12) from the field during a team-high 33.0 minutes per contest.

Crossland opened his week with a solid performance featuring eight points and a career-best 15 rebounds in TCU’s victory over the Jayhawks. The rebounding total is the second-best by a Big 12 player this season in league action. Crossland followed up that effort by scoring a career-high 13 points in the Frogs’ home Saturday setback to West Virginia. He also set personal bests in both free throw (seven) and attempts (9) against the Mountaineers.

Crossland pulled down 24 total rebounds for the week, nearly 33 percent of TCU’s team total (74). He has led TCU on the glass each of the last three contests while climbing to No. 14 in the Big 12 in rebounding average (5.9 rpg).

A second-year player for the Frogs, Crossland arrived on campus prior to the 2011-12 season from John A. Logan College in Carterville, Ill. He is finishing off his TCU career in style this spring, having already set career bests for points, rebounds and blocked shots. He has appeared in all 23 contests with eight starts, including each of the last three games.

TCU continues its Big 12 schedule tonight in Norman, Okla, as the Frogs tip off a two-game road stretch with a 6 p.m. matchup at Oklahoma. The game will be televised live on ESPNU.
