Johnson Laying Groundwork for Nets Roster

FORT WORTH, Texas - With the recent addition of center Jason Collins, TCU head coach Trent Johnson's footprint is seen all across the Brooklyn Nets current roster.
Johnson has three former players he either recruited or coached playing for the Nets this season in Collins, Brook Lopez and Marcus Thornton. Lopez, a 2013 NBA All-Star honoree, is averaging 20.7 points per game and over six boards, while Thornton was recently traded from the Sacramento Kings to the Nets after starting 26 of 46 games. Collins has played 12 seasons in the NBA after being originally selected as the 18th overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets.
Johnson, who is in his second year at TCU, has had 14 student-athletes either coached or recruited by go on to NBA careers between his stops at LSU, Stanford, Nevada and now TCU. In all, Johnson has coached first round draft picks in Brook and Robin Lopez, Kirk Snyder, Collins and Brevin Knight.
The Horned Frogs will next be in action at West Virginia Saturday afternoon. Tip-time is set for 12:30 p.m. CT on Root Sports inside WVU Coliseum.
