FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU's Thomas Montigel and Christian Gore were among the 16 players named to the 2014 Academic All-Big 12 First Team as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.

Montigel, a senior from Fort Worth, garnered first team recognition after taking home second-team accolades a year ago. The finance major has played in 22 games this season, including 13 of the 15 league games. He is shooting 90 percent from the charity stripe on the year and posted a career-high seven points earlier this year against Grambling State.

Gore, an entrepreneurial management major, is one of four Horned Frogs to play in all 27 games this season, while making six starts. The El Paso native is averaging 4.0 points per game and ranks fifth on the squad in three-point field goals made and attempted. He also ranks third on the team in free throw percentage, shooting 77 percent from the charity stripe, and has tallied double-digits in scoring twice, while ranking second on the squad in assists with 37.

TCU will continue conference play on the road at West Virginia on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 12:30 p.m. CT.
