Anderson Honored by Big 12 Conference

FORT WORTH, Texas - Junior guard Kyan Anderson was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention Sunday afternoon.
Anderson, a Fort Worth native, closed out league play ranking No. 9 in both scoring and assists after averaging 17.3 points per game and 3.78 assists per contest, respectively. He also ranked in the top-5 during conference action in free throw percentage (No. 3), 3-point field goal percentage (No. 4) and minutes played (No. 4).
In 18 games, Anderson scored in double-figures in 16 of the 18 contests, including seven games of 20 or more points. He also dished out five or more assists in five league games.
During the month of February alone, Anderson averaged 21.4 points per game and shot a blistering 50 percent from deep. The junior, who also dished out 4.3 assists per game during the month and shot 50.9 percent from the floor, only missed six free throw's the entire month, going 45-of-51 (.882). He posted four-straight games of 27, 29, 25 and 23 points against Iowa State, Baylor, Kansas and K-State respectively, while scoring 20 or more points in five out of the eight contests.
The Purple and White will open the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship Wednesday against Baylor. Start time is set for 8:30 p.m. CT from the Sprint Center in Kansas City.
