FORT WORTH - TCU senior guard/forward Garlon Green has been selected to participate in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships next Thursday in Atlanta. The event, which will be televised live by ESPN, will begin at 7 p.m. EDT at McCamish Pavilion on the campus of the Georgia Tech.

The 25th annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships will showcase the dunking and sharp-shooting talents of 24 of the nation's top college basketball players. Individual events include the Hampton Hotels Men's 3-Point Championship, State Farm Women's 3-Point Championship, Pepsi MAX Battle of the Champions and Denny's Slam Dunk Championship.

Handling the ESPN broadcast will be Brad Nessler, Dan Dakich, Jimmy Dykes and Samantha Ponder.

Green will be one of eight players competing for the Denny's Slam Dunk Championship. The Horned Frogs' high-flying senior recently concluded a career that saw him become only the 13th player in program history to amass at least 1,100 points and 450 rebounds. He led TCU in dunks over the last four years and delivered numerous highlight-reel plays during his career.

Green will look to add another dunk contest championship to his family's trophy case. His older brother, Gerald Green of the NBA's Indiana Pacers, has competed in numerous contests in his career, having won both the McDonald's High School All-America Slam Dunk Contest in 2005 and the NBA Slam Dunk Contest in 2007.

Green is the third player to have been tabbed for the Denny's Slam Dunk Championship field joining High Point's Corey Law and Long Beach State's James Ennis. Event orgainzer Intersport will announce remaining participants over the next several days through its Twitter account, @CollegeSlam.

TCU fans are encouraged to participate in voting for this year's Denny's Slam Dunk Championship by serving as the "Fifth Judge" via Twitter. Fans can vote on every dunk by simply tweeting #CollegeSlam, followed by the player's last name and a score between one and 10 (e.g. #CollegeSlam #Smith10). From there, an average rating will be calculated and that rating will be paired with the four celebrity judges' scores to make up each player's total score.

The four celebrity judges for the 2013 State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships are:

* Harry Douglas, wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons
* Julio Jones, Pro Bowler and wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons
* Demaryius Thomas, former Georgia Tech standout and 2013 Pro Bowl wide receiver for the Denver Broncos
* Roddy White, four-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons.

Alumni of the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships include Gary Payton (Oregon State), Steve Nash (UC-Santa Clara), Allan Houston (Tennessee), Bobby Hurley (Duke), Michael Finley (Wisconsin), Wes Matthews (Marquette), and Mario West (Georgia Tech). Also, six current members of the Harlem Globetrotters are alumni of the event: Kris Bruton, William Bullard, Herb Lang, Bryan Narcisse, Darnell Wilks and John Williams.
