2013 GREAT ALASKA SHOOTOUT BRACKET
FORT WORTH — TCU will tip off its run in the 2013 Great Alaska Shootout against tournament host Alaska Anchorage per a Thursday announcement of the event’s pairings and updated fields. The Horned Frogs will play three games in Anchorage over the Thanksgiving holiday.
The 36th annual men’s Shootout begins the evening of Nov. 27 with a first-round game between Indiana State and Tulsa before the Frogs and Seawolves meet at UAA’s Sullivan Arena. The respective winners and losers of the Wednesday contests will face each other on Nov. 29, while the championship and consolation games, which also will feature Denver, Harvard, Pepperdine and Wisconsin-Green Bay, have been set for the evening of Nov. 30.
Tip-off times and television coverage for this year’s Shootout will be announced at a later date.
Five of the eight teams in this year’s tournament field advanced to postseason play this past season, including Harvard, which reached the NCAA Third Round. Alaska Anchorage, a member of the NCAA Division II Great Northwest Athletic Conference, posted an 18-9 overall record in 2012-13 while finishing third in the GNAC with an 11-7 league mark.
TCU will be making its second all-time appearance in the Great Alaska Shootout following a previous appearance in 1995. The Frogs will look for better results this time around after dropping all three games in former head coach Billy Tubbs’ second season on campus.
The trip to Alaska will be TCU’s third to the state overall, as the squad also played in the 1999 Top of the World Classic hosted by Alaska Fairbanks.
