FORT WORTH—TCU has finalized dates and opponents for its 2013-14 men’s basketball non-conference schedule. The Horned Frogs have set up a 12-game slate for the upcoming season that features six home contests at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

Highlighting the Frogs’ schedule is an appearance in the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaskan Shootout during the Thanksgiving holiday (Nov. 27-30) sandwiched between road dates at Washington State (Nov. 24) and Mississippi State (Dec. 5).

TCU will be participating in the Shootout for the second time and traveling to the state of Alaska for the third time overall since the 1995-96 season. The opening matchup, played Nov. 27, will be against tournament host Alaska Anchorage followed by a Nov. 29 contest against either Indiana State or Tulsa. The final game will be the following day against Denver, Green Bay, Harvard or Pepperdine.

On their way to Anchorage, the Frogs will stop Nov. 24 in Pullman, Wash., for their third all-time meeting with Washington State and the first since the teams split a home-and-home series in 2002 and 2003. The squad then follows its trip to the northwest by traveling to Starkville, Miss., to face Mississippi State on Dec. 5 in the newly created Big 12-SEC Challenge. Like their series with the Cougars, the Frogs also split their only two previous matchups with the Bulldogs (1988 and 1990).

Following a home exhibition against Arkansas Fort Smith on Nov. 1, TCU opens the regular season on a grand stage with its first appearance at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Nov. 8 when it faces cross-town rival SMU. The squad begins its regular-season home schedule Nov. 12 at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum against Longwood and adds a Nov. 19 home matchup against Abilene Christian before heading to the Pacific Northwest.

The Frogs round out the non-conference season in Fort Worth with a four-game homestand stretching from Dec. 15 to Dec. 29. The squad plays three contests prior to the Holiday Break against Texas Pan American (Dec. 15), Grambling State (Dec. 19) and Tulsa (Dec. 21) before returning to the DMC court Dec. 29 to wrap up the pre-league schedule against Texas Southern.

TCU’s 2013-14 Big 12 Conference lineup, along with game times and television details for all games, will be released at a later date.
