TCU Athletes of the Week

Nov. 28, 2017

FORT WORTH, Texas – Kenrich Williams from men’s basketball and Amy Okonkwo from women’s basketball have been named this week’s TCU Athletes of the Week based on their impressive performances in tournament play last weekend.

Williams, a junior guard, helped TCU win the Emerald Coast Classic and was also named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. The Waco, Texas native averaged 17.0 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in the 3-0 week for the Horned Frogs. He also recorded two double-doubles, as well as season highs of 23 points and 17 rebounds in a win against New Mexico, which was the most boards by a Big 12 Player this season.

The Frogs will host Belmont on Wednesday in one of their six remaining non-conference games before beginning Big 12 play.

Okonkwo, a junior from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., was also named MVP of her tournament, The Warner Center Marriott Thanksgiving Classic, in which TCU won thanks to her help in victories over Arizona and Idaho. She scored 22 points, including 10-of-10 free throws, with 11 rebounds in just the championship game. Her fourth career double-double was the first by a Frog this season, and she is the only player to score double-figures in every game this season.

TCU Women’s Basketball plays again next Friday at 12 p.m., when it hosts Alabama at Schollmaier Arena in the Big12/SEC Challenge.
