Two Frogs to Earn Degrees Saturday
Dec. 17, 2011
FORT WORTH--Two members of the TCU men's basketball team will participate in TCU Fall Commencement exercises Saturday at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, as Marin Bavcevic and Cheick Kone both will receive diplomas.
Bavcevic and Kone have earned their degrees in business and communications, respectively. The two players will become the second and third Horned Frogs on this year's team to earn their diplomas, joining Craig Williams, who finished his undergraduate work in psychology at Temple last spring before transferring to TCU for graduate school.
Overall, five members of this year's TCU squad are expected to have earned their degrees prior to the start of next season.
Kone, a 6-10 center from Bamako, Mali, is in his third season as a Frog after transferring to TCU from Howard College in Big Spring, Texas. He has made one appearance this season off the bench, when he totaled career highs of four points, two rebounds and two steals during the Nov. 14 home win over Austin College. He played in eight games in 2010-11, his first season on the court for TCU.
Bavcevic, a walk-on guard from Split, Croatia, was honored during last Saturday's home game against Nebraska, his final appearance at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum as a Frog. He has been unable to play this season due to injury, and he plans to return to Croatia following the end of the fall semester. Bavcevic played in 12 games over two seasons beginning in 2009-10. His top game as a Frog came in 2009-10 at UNLV where he totaled three assists and two rebounds in a career-high 12 minutes of action.
