Allaway Scores Season-High 17 Points, Leads TCU Over Texas-El Paso

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- Larry Allaway scored a season-high 17 points, including 10 in the final four minutes, as TCU beat Texas-El Paso 99-91 Thursday night.

Seniors Ryan Carroll and Derrick Davenport added 27 and 15 points, respectively, in their final home game for TCU (19-10, 8-7 WAC).

Brandon Wolfram scored a career-high 36 points for UTEP (20-7, 9-6). He hit 12-of-16 shots.

Davenport, who added 10 rebounds and three blocked shots, fouled out after being hit with a technical call for arguing a call with eight minutes remaining. Marlon Dumont fouled out a minute later and the Miners tried to take advantage, scoring four of the next six points to pull within 82-78 with five minutes left.

But a technical foul was called on UTEP assistant coach Eddie Hill and the Miners went scoreless the next two minutes.

Allaway's 3-pointer with 1:52 left in the game spurred a 10-2 run that helped seal the win.

Carroll, coming off a 2-11 effort in a loss against San Jose, shot holes through the Miners' defense. Carroll hit 9-15 shots, including 6-10 from long range.

With the win, the Horned Frogs finished the season 16-1 in Fort Worth.
