TCU Downs Tulsa in Overtime






FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- Thomas McTyer scored nine of his 12 points in overtime as TCU rallied to beat Tulsa 93-87 in overtime Thursday night.

McTyer, who has been struggling against Western Athletic Conference teams, hit a free throw with 5.6 seconds left to put TCU (16-6, 5-3 WAC) up 81-79, but he missed the second and Tulsa's Greg Harrington drove the length of the court for a layup at the buzzer to send the game to overtime.

Six of McTyer's nine overtime points came from the free-throw line, but he hit a 3-pointer with 1:43 left to give TCU a 89-84 lead.

McTyer, who has averaged 7.7 points and 4.8 assists this season, had been held to 3.9 points and 2.3 assists against WAC teams.

Tulsa (14-7, 5-3) opened the second half by hitting eight straight 3-pointers to take a 69-59 lead with 8:03 remaining in the game. The Golden Hurricane finished with 15-of-29 from three-point range.

Derrick Davenport led the Horned Frogs with a career-high 26 points, including 10 of 14 from the free-throw line, and 10 rebounds. Myron Anthony added 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Marcus Hill scored 23 points, including five 3-pointers, for Tulsa and Antonio Reed scored 14 points, including four 3-pointers.

The Horned Frogs' win snapped a six-game losing streak to Tulsa.
