Jason Phillips

Jason Phillips

Defensive Analyst | 4th Season

TCU standout Jason Phillips was named defensive analyst in 2018.

Phillips returned to his alma mater in 2015 as a graduate assistant. As a GA, he coached the linebackers in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

The 2016 season saw TCU linebackers Travin Howard and Ty Summers earn All-Big 12 recognition as they ranked first and second, respectively, in tackles. Howard became the first Horned Frog since 2003-04 (Martin Patterson) to record back-to-back seasons with at least 100 stops.

Prior to a four-year NFL career with the Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles, Phillips became the first player in Mountain West history to be a first- or second-team all-conference selection over four consecutive seasons (2005-08). He was the first freshman defensive player in the MW to be all-conference when he was a second-team pick in 2005.

Phillips led TCU in tackles in three of his four years, totaling 315 stops in his career. He started all but one game over his four years as a Horned Frog.

The Ravens made Phillips the first pick in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL Draft.

Phillips is a native of Waller, Texas. He was a quarterback and linebacker at Waller High School.
