Team Notes

*TCU is 3-0 for the seventh time in the last 10 seasons, including the third time in four years since joining the Big 12 Conference.

*TCU improved to 33-3 when taking the field as a top-10 team under head coach Gary Patterson, including a 22-1 mark as a top-5 team.

*Trevone Boykin's 61-yard scoring pass to KaVontae Turpin extended TCU's streak to 16 consecutive games with a first-quarter touchdown, trailing only USC (17) for the national lead.

*TCU's nation-best 27-game streak with a takeaway came to an end.

*The Horned Frogs held SMU to 5-of-15 on third-down conversions. For the season, TCU opponents are just 11-of-46 (23.9 percent).

*The Horned Frogs extended their home winning streak to nine games.

*TCU finished the night with 720 yards of total offense, marking the fifth time in program history it had at least 700 yards. Three of the five occasions have come since the start of the 2014 season. TCU had 785 yards against Texas Tech and 722 against Iowa State last year.

*TCU ran for 266 yards, improving to 74-4 under Patterson when rushing for at least 200 yards.

*It was the second straight game that TCU has surpassed 600 yards in total offense, having posted 627 against Stephen F. Austin last week.

*The attendance of 48,127 was the third-largest crowd in Amon G. Carter Stadium history and marks TCU's 21st sellout in its last 29 home dates.

*TCU averaged 21.6 yards per completion on the night.

*For the third time in the Patterson era, TCU threw for 400 yards and ran for 200 in the same game. All three occurrences have come in the last two seasons.

*TCU scored for the 283rd consecutive game. It's the nation's second-longest current streak and fourth all-time in NCAA history. The Horned Frogs haven't been blanked since Nov. 16, 1991 at Texas (32-0).

*When SMU scored on its opening drive of the game, TCU trailed for the first time in its last seven contests dating back to Nov. 15 of last season at Kansas.

*TCU's team captains were Trevone Boykin, Joey Hunt, Derrick Kindred and Josh Carraway. Dating back to last season, Boykin and Hunt have been captains in the Horned Frogs' last 16 games. Carraway was a captain for the first time.

*TCU wore a purple jersey with a purple helmet and white pants.

Individual Notes

*Trevone Boykin posted the fourth 400-yard passing game of his career as he completed 21-of-30 attempts for 454 yards with five touchdowns and one interception. He finished the night six yards shy of tying his career high for passing yards. He threw for 460 against Iowa State last season.

*Boykin's 454 yards passing were the fourth most in a game in program history. He holds three of the top five marks.

*Boykin's five touchdown passes marked the sixth time TCU has had a quarterback throw for at least five scores and the second for Boykin. He is the only TCU quarterback to achieve the feat on multiple occasions. He threw for a career-best seven touchdowns against Texas Tech last season.

*Boykin posted his seventh game of at least four touchdown passes. Three of those efforts have come in the last five contests.

*Boykin's first quarter 61-yard touchdown pass to KaVontae Turpin extended his nation's-best streak to 18 consecutive games with a touchdown pass. It also marked TCU's longest play from scrimmage this season.

*Boykin's 20-yard second-quarter touchdown run was his longest carry of the season.

*Boykin now has 14 career games with a rush of 20 or more yards.

*Dominic Merka had a 19-yard third-quarter scoring reception. It was his second career touchdown and first since returning a fumble for a special teams touchdown at West Virginia in 2012.

*Turpin, a true freshman from Monroe, La., had his second consecutive game with a touchdown catch. He had a 6-yard scoring grab against Stephen F. Austin.

*Kolby Listenbee's 31-yard third-quarter touchdown reception was his third scoring grab in the last four games.

*Aaron Green posted his fifth career 100-yard rushing game with 164 yards on 21 attempts (7.8 per carry). All five of those 100-yard efforts have come in the last 10 games.

*Green's 1-yard scoring run gave him three rushing touchdowns in the first quarter of the last two games.

*Green's two rushing touchdowns for the game gave him 15 rushing scores for his collegiate career, including 13 at TCU. He has posted multiple rushing touchdowns three times in the last seven games.

*Josh Doctson's two touchdown catches moved him into sole possession of second place on the Horned Frogs' all-time list with 18. Josh Boyce is the leader with 22 (2010-12). 

*With five receptions for 171 yards, Doctson had his fourth 100-yard game at TCU and fifth in his collegiate career. He had one for Wyoming in 2011. It was his best outing since a 225-yard performance against Oklahoma State last season.

*Doctson caught multiple touchdowns in a game for the fifth time in his TCU career.

*Josh Carraway posted his first sack of the season and third of his career. He finished the game with six total tackles, including three for loss, with 2 1/2 sacks.

*Safety Denzel Johnson had a career high and team-best 10 tackles, including two for loss. He also had his third career pass breakup.

*Linebacker Travin Howard and cornerback Torrance Mosley made their first career starts. Nick Orr started for the first time at safety. His first two career starts, both this season, were at cornerback.
